Situated in a tranquil and peaceful environment in Gainsborough, a small town on the River Trent within the West Lindsey district of Lincolnshire, the home supports male and female young adults with autism, learning disabilities and complex needs, including behaviours of concern.
Tigh Bruadair is located on Summer Hill and is a gated property that provides a home for our young adults living independently under supervision in a shared house as well as a separate bungalow named Taigh Garadh.
At Tigh Bruadair we promote and encourage the people we support in living life to its fullest, empowering them to recognise themselves as individuals and promote their everyday life choices whilst ensuring they are cared for to the highest of standards.
We have a full activity schedule available for all those who wish to participate, and plenty of space and quiet areas for those who choose not to. Staff fully support equality and diversity and advocacy within both the home and in the community. We promote a healthy lifestyle as well as actively encouraging a healthy approach to nutrition.
We promote community participation in the form of using all available resources that we can access and feel strongly that we have lots to offer in return.
We encourage the people we support to be as independent as possible by promoting ownership of the home and we pride ourselves on providing a friendly relaxed and calm atmosphere that ensures our individuals feel safe, respected and cared for at all times.
The high staffing level at Tigh Bruadair enables the people we support to partake in many everyday activities such as trips to the cinema, bowling and getting involved in the running of the home.
The town of Gainsborough benefits from a newly-built shopping centre, and leisure centre being close by. Gainsborough has all the expected amenities such as a doctor’s surgery, dentist and opticians along with a theatre and plenty of places to eat out and enjoy. It is also closely located to transport links to further towns and cities to help support individuals’ freedom and to become part of a wider community.
Tigh Bruadair, meaning “dream house,” has ten bedrooms, all with en suite facilities. Four of the bedrooms are on the ground floor and six on the first floor. All bedrooms are decorated and furnished according to individual tastes and desires promoting individuality, personal space and a sense of identity. The shared living space within the home consists of two large lounges with adjacent conservatory where individuals can choose to take part in various in-house activities, a breakfast room and dining room where they can choose to eat or relax and we have a large kitchen for meal preparation and cooking activities along with laundry facilities that the people we support are encouraged to use in promoting their everyday independence.
Taigh Garadh has three bedrooms, all with en suite facilities. All bedrooms are decorated and furnished according to individual tastes and desires promoting individuality, personal space and a sense of identity. There is a shared living space within the home which consists of a kitchen, living room and dining room which then branches off to two bedrooms. Part of the same building is a self-enclosed flat consisting of one bedroom, living room, dining room and kitchen. The bungalow has its own private garden as well as being able to access the grounds within the establishment.
The home benefits from large mature gardens and an extensive lawn area with plenty of space to enjoy summer barbecues and a separate area for growing our own vegetables. Individuals also enjoy using the grounds for sport activities and garden games.
