Sam shows off her painting skills

Resident brushes up on her painting

One of the residents at Tigh Bruadair in Gainsborough recently added a vibrant splash of colour to the home’s kitchen—and played a hands-on role in the transformation.

The ten-bedroom home, which holds a ‘Good’ rating from the CQC, had scheduled a kitchen redecoration and resident Sam, was keen to be involved, and staff were delighted to support her enthusiasm. She was invited to choose the colour palette and overall style, giving her the opportunity to put her personal stamp on the space.

But Sam didn’t stop at design. When the decorators arrived, she decided to roll up her sleeves and get involved in the painting too. Armed with a roller and paint pad, she worked alongside the team, bringing her vision to life.

Louise Jones, Manager at Tigh Bruadair said, “This is Sam’s home and we want our residents to feel happy and comfortable here, so we were delighted when she wanted to be involved. We gave her the opportunity to choose the colours and even take part in the decorating, which she absolutely loved.

“Experiences like this encourage independence and help individuals develop valuable life skills. It’s wonderful that Sam wanted to take part, and we’re proud to support her choices—and the kitchen looks fantastic as a result!”

The project not only refreshed the kitchen but also highlighted the importance of empowering residents to make decisions and take an active role in their home.

The next project on Sam’s ‘to do’ list is to paint the summerhouse.
