Woodstock House School

Woodstock House - Meeting needs in the South of England

HE KISIMUL GROUP Ltd opened its third school in August 2008, Woodstock House in Long Ditton, Surrey. Woodstock House is set in 8 acres of beautiful and tranquil Surrey countryside and the school and care home make the most of the wonderful gardens and open spaces. Now fully developed, Woodstock provides quality educational and residential care for up to 66 children, specialising, as with our two Lincolnshire schools, in providing services to children with severe learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, and Autistic Spectrum Disorders. The age group of pupils at Woodstock ranges from 8 to 19 and the school offers placements on a day, weekly, termly and 52-week basis.

"Young people benefit from living in a homely and comfortable environment. The home is spacious and clean and provides a number of popular facilities, such as a sensory room and large, very well maintained gardens. Bedrooms are bright and colourful and have en-suite facilities."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report February 2009

"The school provides a good quality of education and it meets its aims successfully. It has maintained the same level of effectiveness as when it was inspected last despite having almost four times as many students on roll. Students achieve well. They make good progress."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report November 2012

Since purchasing and converting the former conference and training centre, Woodstock has further developed and is now offering 66 residential places all with en-suite facilities, spacious lounges to relax and play in, soft play areas, sensory rooms and child-friendly gardens to spend time outside. A new gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and adventure playground are all to be added in the near future and are currently at planning stage. A Woodland Eco Walk has been designed and landscaped around the perimeter of the site with walkways and paths linking up all the facilities on the site.

Woodstock House also offers day places for children and young people who still live at home but require a more structured and specialised approach at school. Each of the three school buildings, the third of which opened in September 2011, offer well-resourced classrooms, ICT facilities including computers and interactive whiteboards, teaching kitchens and sensory and therapy rooms.

The staff who work at Woodstock House have been carefully chosen for their expertise and caring attitudes. Some experienced staff have relocated from our Lincolnshire sites and the Kisimul Group works hard to ensure that this school is as successful and quality driven as The Old Vicarage and Acacia Hall in Lincolnshire and offers the same quality of care and education.

"There is a high level of commitment and cooperative working between teaching staff, care staff and teaching assistants who all know their role and work extremely well together as a team."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report June 2009

"The quality of teaching and assessment is good. The nature of students’ special educational needs is such that they are averse to change and are unable to focus on activities for extended periods. Staff have detailed knowledge of students’ needs and patterns of behaviour and are skilled at managing transitions from one activity to another."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report November 2012

Our children are treated as individuals within their homely environment, with emphasis on personalising bedrooms and the encouragement of family contact, where possible.

Visitors to the school will find it easily accessible by car off the M25, or by train, with Surbiton being the nearest train station. From Surbiton the school is only a short taxi ride away.
