THE KISIMUL GROUP Ltd is pleased to announce that it has opened a new school, Woodstock House, Woodstock Lane North, Long Ditton, Surrey KT6 5HN. Woodstock House will provide quality educational and residential care for up to 60 children when the site is fully developed and as with the companies two other schools will specialise in services to children who have severe learning difficulties and challenging behaviour and who may have autism and a global developmental delay. This school will offer it's services to children from the ages of 8 to 19 and can also offer any combination of residence from 38 weeks through to 52 weeks a year.
"Young people benefit from living in a homely and comfortable environment. The home is spacious and clean and provides a number of popular facilities, such as a sensory room and large, very well maintained gardens. Bedrooms are bright and colourful and have en-suite facilities."
Woodstock House, Ofsted Report February 2009Development of the school will take place in three phases, as detailed below:
Phase 1 will provide a total of 18 single, en suite residential bedrooms in a large house, Mireagach House, in the grounds of Woodstock. The house has a choice of lounges and dining rooms plus a soft play and sensory room. Outside is a dedicated and secure garden and play area which is linked to the whole site with thoughtful pathways and an Eco Woodland Walk.
There is an independent teaching facility in Cairdeas House which has four large classrooms, training kitchen, activity room, library area, IT room with white board and a soft play area. The location of phase 1 was carefully chosen to allow for development of future phases without disruption to schooling and the daily routines of the children.
"The large site, accommodation and beautiful grounds provide a high quality setting in which pupils can adjust to learning how to interact with others, gain basic skills and become confident individuals. The curriculum and teaching are carefully and meticulously planned to meet the needs of the individuals and to care for them in a secure place."
Woodstock House, Ofsted Report June 2009Phase 2 will provide a further 14 en suite residential placements in a separate building with a further school building providing additional classroom and therapy areas. Phase three, the final phase, will extend the school by offering 26 further residential placements, again, all with en suite facilities. Additional lounges and dining rooms, together with soft play areas will also be developed.
A new hall/gymnasium is planned in phase 3 which will also see the existing outdoor swimming pool covered over and linked to this new sports hall and will therefore provide all year round swimming facilities.
Areas have been set aside to providing activity areas and further expansion is planned to provide an adventure playground and a grass play area for children to play, interact and take 'time out' in.
It is anticipated that phase 2 will be completed by September 2009 and phase 3 by September 2010. If you are interested in reserving places at this school, please do not hesitate to contact us. Our first pupils have begun to arrive and we anticipate a heavy demand.
The staff who work at Woodstock House have been carefully chosen for their expertise and caring attitudes. Some experienced staff have relocated or taken secondments from our Lincolnshire sites and will work hard to ensure that this school is as successful and quality driven as The Old Vicarage and Acacia Hall in Lincolnshire and offers the same quality of care and education.
"There is a high level of commitment and cooperative working between teaching staff, care staff and teaching assistants who all know their role and work extremely well together as a team."
Woodstock House, Ofsted Report June 2009"Positive relationships are enjoyed between staff and young people."
Woodstock House, Ofsted Report FebruaryJune 2009Our children are and will be treated as an individual within their homely environment, with emphasis on personalising bedrooms and the encouragement of family contact, where possible.
Visitors to the school will find it easily accessible by car off the M25, or by train, with Surbiton being the nearest train station. From Surbiton the school is a short taxi ride away.
