Woodstock House

Woodstock House – meeting needs in the South of England

HE KISIMUL GROUP Ltd opened its third school In August 2008, Woodstock House in Long Ditton, Surrey. Woodstock House is set in 8 acres of beautiful and tranquil Surrey countryside and we plan to make the most of these wonderful gardens. Once fully developed, Woodstock will provide quality educational and residential care for up to 60 children, specialising, as with our two Lincolnshire schools, in providing services to children with severe learning difficulties, challenging behaviour, most of whom are on the Autistic Spectrum. The age group of pupils at Woodstock ranges from 8 to 19 and the school offers placements on a day, weekly, termly and 52 week basis.

"Young people benefit from living in a homely and comfortable environment. The home is spacious and clean and provides a number of popular facilities, such as a sensory room and large, very well maintained gardens. Bedrooms are bright and colourful and have en-suite facilities."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report February 2009

After purchasing and converting the former conference and training centre, the school opened Phase I of the development, which consisted of 18 residential and 22 school places. Since then, Woodstock has further developed and is now offering 60 residential places all with en-suite facilities, spacious lounges to relax and play in, soft play, white and sensory rooms and wonderful gardens to spend time outside. A new gymnasium, indoor swimming pool and adventure playground are all to be added in the next couple of years and are currently at planning stage. A Woodland Eco Walk has been designed and landscaped around the perimeter of the site with walkways and paths linking up all the facilities on the site. The site is complying with the DCSF guidelines to be sustainable by 2020 and we are working hard to be as ecologically friendly as we can.

Woodstock House also offers day places for children and young people who still live at home but require a more structured and specialised 1:1 approach at school. The new school building opened in September 2011 and offers additional classrooms, ICT facilities, sensory and therapy rooms and will be connected to the newly built gymnasium. All school buildings have large classrooms, training kitchens and activity areas.

The staff who work at Woodstock House have been carefully chosen for their expertise and caring attitudes. Some experienced staff have relocated or taken secondments from our Lincolnshire sites and the Kisimul Group will work hard to ensure that this school is as successful and quality driven as The Old Vicarage and Acacia Hall in Lincolnshire and offers the same quality of care and education.

"There is a high level of commitment and cooperative working between teaching staff, care staff and teaching assistants who all know their role and work extremely well together as a team."

Woodstock House, Ofsted Report June 2009

"This is a good school which has quickly established itself as a centre for pupils with profound learning
difficulties and disabilities. […] Pupils are making good and significant progress since being at the
school. Progress is good because teachers are clear about what small steps the pupils need to make
in their learning to become confident individuals who can relate to others around them in a positive
way."

Our children are and will be treated as an individual within their homely environment, with emphasis on personalising bedrooms and the encouragement of family contact, where possible.

Visitors to the school will find it easily accessible by car off the M25, or by train, with Surbiton being the nearest train station. From Surbiton the school is only a short taxi ride away.
