The Kisimul Schools

Top-quality vocational training

THE KISIMUL GROUP now has three schools: two in Lincolnshire - The Old Vicarage at Swinderby and Acacia Hall in Friesthorpe, and Woodstock House, in Long Ditton, Surrey. All three Kisimul schools offer a specialised care and educational programme to children with severe learning difficulties, autism and challenging behaviour. All our children have global developmental delays and communication problems.

The Kisimul Schools in Lincolnshire are both home and school for up to 70 pupils, with 39 residential places within houses at The Old Vicarage and 31 residential places at Acacia Hall. Woodstock House currently has 46 residential places available but this will increase to 60 as the site develops over the next two years.

Our schools are developed to a thoroughly tested and successful specification and all follow the same philosophies. Each school is set in several acres of peaceful countryside albeit with thriving communities not far away. We offer specialist care and education inclusive of a large number of therapies including speech and language, aromatherapy, educational psychology, Handle, Teach and others.

Kisimul offers very high staffing ratios with 1:1 support in school, to enable our pupils to get the very best out of our education programmes. There are different activities provided on site, including a small farm and a play barn at Acacia Hall, an indoor swimming pool and a planned gymnasium at The Old Vicarage. There will be a delightful Woodland Walk plus swimming pool and gymnasium by 2009 at the new Woodstock House School.

Busy children are happy children. We run a fleet of mini buses at each school to provide essential curriculum trips into the community whilst in school and for leisure activities at the weekends and holidays.

"I see Kisimul mini buses everywhere - usually outside all the most fun and interesting places. It makes me so happy to think of my son living such a full life with his friends."
